The official presentation of the new company took place yesterday at La Luz port in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria

The Company’s goal is to extend business activity to other Spanish ports, as well as to national and international port facilities

Boluda Lines and La Luz Market have set up a limited company under the name Boluda & Suárez General Cargo (BS Cargo), based in the port of La Luz in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, joining forces to gain from the most cutting-edge technology. The aim is to offer excellence in integrated logistics, storage and non-containerized cargo distribution services, with a complete machinery pool and a team of highly qualified professionals.

The launch of the new company took place on 19 September at the port of La Luz de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. The event, which served as a business, social and political gathering, was attended by representatives of the Boluda family such as Boluda Corporación Marítima vice president Ignacio Boluda, and company executives including the Canary Islands regional director Javier Climent, and from the Suárez family, Ana and Germán Suárez and CEO Bernardino Santana.

Also attending the event were the president of the Canary Islands government, Ángel Víctor Torres; the president of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, Antonio Morales; Las Palmas de Gran Canaria mayor Augusto Hidalgo and the director general of the Las Palmas Port Authority, Salvador Capella, as well as a large selection representing the Canarian civil and business community.

Commitment to national and international expansion

This is a partnership of two business families which have provided maritime services in the Canary Islands for decades, now joining forces to offer high quality port logistics services, taking advantage of the strengths and expertise of each business group. The company has an expansion plan, with the objective of extending port and maritime logistics services to other national, European and international ports.

Boluda & Suárez General Cargo has five maritime terminals in Spain: two in the ports of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (León and Castillo Terminal and Boluda Maritime Terminal Las Palmas platforms), as well as the Boluda Maritime Terminals platforms located in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Puerto del Rosario (Fuerteventura) and Santa Cruz de La Palma. These facilities boast the latest technology and equipment on the market to provide the most cutting-edge national and international cargo services required by customers.

The new company also offers customers two logistics areas in Arinaga, Gran Canaria for wind turbine storage covering a 20,000 square metre area, with another 6,000 square metres reserved for bulk. It also has an 80,000 square metre logistics area in the port of Granadilla (Tenerife).

Logistics services

BS Cargo provides operational loading and unloading of perishable, deep-frozen, frozen or refrigerated goods, and specializes in handling all types of non-containerized freight, as well as bulk food cargo. The fishing fleet uses the ports in which BS Cargo operates for handling catches and sourcing materials and services, and is the largest frozen fish handler in Europe since 1980, handling three million tons per year.

BS Cargo also has extensive experience in handling large and oversized cargo, with expert personnel who manage the entire process, from project evaluation and feasibility to packaging, transfer, loading, securing, chartering and specialized road transport.
